Where has the time gone?

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Wow, it seems only yesterday Tom and I pulled up to our house with Oliver for the very first time. Itt will be one year ago tomorrow! I remember trying to give him his dose of pain meds and it spilling everywhere in the car. We were all so nervous! I felt like we had escaped the hospital only to have unsure feelings of our new home life. its hard to think back on all the craziness. The thing that means the most to me is the unconditional support and love we felt from our family, friends, neighbors and even strangers. Everyday things got a little smoother and less chaotic. We became more confident in our nursing skills and began to trust our parenting intuition. I slowly regained my strength. have you ever read this entire blog from the VERY Begining?  Its incredible how far Oliver has come!!! How far we have all grown from our journey, how much life has changed and how it has blossomed. Oliver still is the most happy baby in the world. He wakes up happy. I can hear him from downstairs as I pump. He wakes up and says Mum? Mum? We hear him on the monitor and Tom drops everything to run and get him. He is down in one moment pointing the entire way towards the right direction. Tom prompting him “which way”?  As he turns the corner, my heart melts he has the most beautifully innocent and shy smile. So pure with love, Nathan lights up as soon as he hears him. Bella and Nathan cuddle up as close as Olie will let them.

Every single day begins this way- sooo happy and us so grateful! We are truley blessed to begin our days this way.
I will continue later…

There is lots of new things Oliver is doing these days. He is signing- he signs when he sees or hears a bird, to eat, more, milk and is waving. He clearly can verbalize words too. Mum, Mam are all for me!!! I love to hear him say this…He also says gog for the dogs, bi for birds, bal for ball and says dad, when he sees Tom. He is also pointing at the sky for the moon, and especially airplanes. Its such a fun stage he is going through!

He answers me when I call him. I do this alot when I am pumping downstairs and he is not in sight. I say Oliver, are you OK? And he says ah? We have lots of conversations. He can also stand on his own. I can say Oliver, can you show so and so how you stand? He will proudly stand. He is also walking back and forth on furniture like the couch and coffe table. Today I saw him for the first time using the wall to walk along. He is definately getting stronger and more confident. He also has a walker that he loves to push along. Tom added a 5 lb weight to slow it down a bit. Oliver loves music still, he bobs his head to the beat and smiles. He favorite thing to do these days is to play ball and play with Nathans hot wheels. Now he holds them and pushes them along. His ball playing is amazing! he is extremely accurate and loves to make baskets into any bucket available (occasionally a glass of milk). Boy can I brag or what? Life is really good for Oliver right now, his heart is working well for his body, he hasn’t spit up in a long time and his eating is coming along as well. I will try and post some pix later!
